Level 4 YOMA Elite

The Elite programme is for those who perform at a high level* as soloists and ensemble/orchestral musicians and have experience as a leader or coach.

YOMA offers you in person and online

  • 2–3 individual lessons per course
  • Active participation in at least 2 masterclasses per year
  • An international talent environment, with teachers and participants from other Nordic and European countries

For those attending in person, the following is also offered

  • 1 rehearsal lesson with a pianist per course, subject to the schedule
  • Priority for solo or ensemble performances at concerts during most courses
  • YOMA’s unique orchestral training, including playing in various formats up to a full symphony orchestra, training as concertmaster and section leader, and digital study materials (in person only, but with some elements online)
  • Participation in YOMA’s elite ensembles and orchestras
  • Leadership roles as a coach, section leader and, in some cases, as a conductor
  • High-level chamber music/ensemble playing, sometimes with professional musicians
  • The programme is free of charge. If you play the oboe, bassoon, French horn, tuba, viola or double bass and attend regularly in person, you may be eligible for a grant towards travel, meals and accommodation (see the description of each individual course).

Here’s what you need to do to join YOMA Elite

  • If you’ve come a long way in your development and are interested in YOMA Elite, you should first apply to YOMA Talent
  • If you are enrolled in YOMA Talent, you may be offered a place in YOMA Elite without an audition once you have reached a high level* as a soloist, ensemble/orchestra musician and leader/coach

This is what we expect from you

  • You prioritise attendance at every course weekend, either in person or online (read here about online teaching)
  • You prepare very thoroughly for each course and act as a role model for other participants

* High level means that you

  • have an extensive solo repertoire that also includes advanced works
  • learn new solo works and chamber music/orchestral parts quickly
  • independently lead section and ensemble rehearsals and give individual lessons
