COMES – YOMA’s coaches and mentors

COMES is Latin for ‘comrade’, ‘friend’ or ‘companion’, and is also an abbreviation for the coach/mentor system developed by YOMA. 

As soon as you join YOMA, you’ll be working alongside our youth coaches – motivated YOMA participants. 

• They help you with your parts 
• They play alongside you 
• They lead you in ensembles and orchestras 
• And they might even give you a lesson. 

From around the age of 14, you’ll receive coaching from our mentors – experienced teachers, section leaders and concertmasters. At the same time, you will begin to coach other participants, and the mentors will prepare you for increasingly challenging tasks. 

Coaching will be a constant feature throughout your time at YOMA; you will be coached and will coach others yourself, as a valued and enjoyable part of YOMA’s activities.
