The Polstjärnepriset Symphony Orchestra discovers the New World

After a series of successes in recent years, including with star conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Polstjärnepriset Symphony Orchestra has established itself as one of the Nordic region’s leading symphony orchestras for young people. The collaboration with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra when the orchestras meet and play together during the final of Polstjärnepriset is one of the highlights of the year. This year, the orchestras will take on the final movement of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”. The powerful movement features melodies from the entire symphony and the result when Dvorak brings them together is breathtaking.

The Polstjärnepriset Symphony Orchestra is preparing the entire symphony during the autumn and will be in top form when they meet the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra on 5 January. The following day they will travel on to Stockholm where they will perform the entire symphony on their own at the Stockholm Concert Hall, as well as featuring several other constellations, including string orchestra, sinfonietta and soloist performances.
