Advanced YOMA course January 2026
Last application date: 9 November. For string and wind instrument talents from Sweden, the Nordics and Europe, online or IRL. Auditing teachers are welcome.
The course is held on site in Vänersborg, but we also have places for online participants. The course welcomes you (aged approx. 10–20) who play at an advanced level for your age. We collaborate with the Polstjärnepriset course part 2, which takes place at the same time.
The YOMA course is suitable for you if
- you are not yet eligible to participate in the Polstjärnepriset competition or course, e.g. because you are too young
- you cannot participate in Polstjärnepriset due to the requirement of attendance in both November and January
The course fee depends on which programme you are enrolled in, where you live and whether you are participating in person or online. In many cases, the courses are free of charge, but check what applies to you in this overview.
Course content
- Individual lessons and group lessons
- Master class participation or visits
- Orchestral playing in various formats
- Chamber music/ensemble
- Concertmaster and section leader training
- Performances at public and/or internal concerts
BrassUnit – Artists In Residence
After winning both the Swedish ensemble competition ‘Ung och Lovande’ and the Nordic ‘Nordic Wind Festival Competition’, the brass quintet has now been named Artists In Residence for Polstjärnepriset. The quintet’s members participate in teaching, ensembles and orchestras and serve as shining role models, including for all YOMA participants.
Info and application
If you participate in Vänersborg we can offer accommodation and breakfast for SEK 400/night in a shared room or SEK 600 for a single room. As a rule, all participants except adults are accommodated in shared rooms. We also offer lunch and dinner for SEK 120/meal. We will send you a link for booking and paying for meals and accommodation after you have been accepted onto the course.
Please apply here as soon as possible, but no later than 9 November. You can change the language to English at the top of the form.
In the digital application form, you also need to copy in a link to at least one recording of yourself that you have uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo.
In week 44 of 2025, we are organising a similar YOMA course together with the Polstjärnepriset competition – you can also apply for this using the online form above.
Your application is only valid once you have sent the sheet music for your individual lessons as an attached PDF file (no link) in an email to yoma@yomacenter.se. Write YOMA January in the subject line.
Participants who can attend both November and January will be given priority. As a participant in the Talent Programme, you are guaranteed a place on the course.
