YOMA master class and Talent Programme course at KMH

Apply by: 15 Febuary. The course is for young musicians (aged 10-19) from all over Sweden and the Nordic countries who play a wind or string instrument, percussion or piano at an advanced level.

Instrumental pedagogues are welcome to auscultate and participate in seminars on talent development.

During the course, you will get to know the Royal College of Music (KMH), the Young Musicians Academy (YOMA) and the Polstjärnepriset Symphony Orchestra.

What you are offered

  • Lessons/master classes with teachers from KMH and YOMA
  • Joint lessons and rehearsals with students from KMH and participants from YOMA and Polstjärnepriset
  • Ensemble/chamber music and/or orchestra rehearsals at your level
  • Rehearsal time with a pianist for some master class participants
  • Insight into YOMA: s concertmaster and section leader training
  • Participation in one of the course’s final concerts
  • Visits to lessons, master classes and concerts with students from KMH and other course participants

The course is a collaboration between KMH and the National Centre for Music Talents. The Talent Centre organises YOMA and Polstjärnepriset. Eight of the country’s orchestras, including Göteborgs Symfoniker, Kungliga Filharmonikerna and Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester, and all music colleges are involved in the talent centre.

Times
Saturday 12.00-19.00, Sunday 9.00-16.00. Final concerts 14.00-16.00 on the Sunday.

Course fee
Course fees depend on the programme you are in, where you live and whether you are participating IRL/online. In many cases, the courses are free of charge, but check what applies to you under your programme on the website or in this overview. You pay and organise your travels, accommodation and meals yourself. If you play oboe, bassoon, French horn, viola or double bass, we will pay for your travel (by bus/train) if you live more than 30 km from Stockholm.
