Kurs

Advanced wind, string and percussion course at Lilla Akademien and online

Apply by: 7 December. Welcome to a joint course between YOMA and Lilla Akademien in Stockholm! For certain instruments we have a number of online places, e.g. for long-distance participants from the other Nordic countries. Auscultating instrumental teachers are also welcome.

The course is given at advanced level, corresponding to YOMA’s Soloist and Talent Programme or the Open Programme and is aimed at wind and string musicians and percussionists aged 12-19. You will have two individual lessons during the weekend and play together in wind, percussion and string ensembles.

During the course, we also focus on symphonic music. The orchestral work continues during the YOMA course 11-12 April at Kungliga Musikhögskolan, culminating in a concert on 12 April in Kungasalen at the college.

Practical info, deadline and application

Course fees depend on the programme you are in, where you live and whether you are participating IRL/online. In many cases, the courses are free of charge, but check what applies to you under your programme on the website or in this overview. Lilla Akademien students have no fees for the course.

Lilla Akademien provides lunch for course participants on both Saturday and Sunday. You organise other meals and accommodation yourself. We have good experience of the Zinkendamm hostel, which offers a safe environment, affordable accommodation and good transport links to LA, e.g. bus line 4.

If you play the oboe, bassoon, French horn, viola or double bass and live more than 30 kilometres from Stockholm, YOMA offers up to 800 SEK in travel compensation.

The course is given at Lilla Akademien, Norrtullsgatan 14, with an official start on Friday at about 3 p.m. and end on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The application deadline was 7 December but you can still apply via this form, maybe there are some spaces left on your instrument. Don’t forget to send your solo repertoire as an attached pdf (not a link) by email to yoma@yomacenter.se.
